How to Flutter Kick Away from the Wall in Swimming


Butterfly kick is the perfect thing to use when starting a race or just coming out of a turn. It is highly effective and all you need to do is look up swimmers like Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte to see how these guys use it to their advantage. The butterfly underwater phase involves kicking from from your hips in a symmetrical motion.
Steps
  1. When you dive in star with 5-10 very small quick dolphin kicks
  2. Then gradually expand these into large powerful kicks
  3. This can be used at the start of races and on turns
  4. There are many drills which can be used for butterfly kick to strengthen your legs and stomach
